Interview: Unsere Redaktion sprach eine Woche vor dem Start der Rhein Asset Open, ATP Tennis an Rhein und Ruhr im Meerbuscher TeReMeer mit Veranstalter Marc Raffel über den Stand der Vorbereitungen
Redaktion (R:): Marc, in Zeiten der Corona Pandemie ziehst Du die achte Auflage von ATP Tennis an Rhein & Ruhr vom 08.08.-15.08.21 in Meerbusch auf. Mit welchen Problemen hast Du zu kämpfen?
Marc Raffel (M:): Natürlich ist es aktuell nach wie vor sehr schwer ein großes, internationales Spitzensport Event zu organisieren. Aber in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Deutschen Tennis Bund (DTB), der ATP und den lokalen Gesundheitsämtern ist eine Austragung möglich und sehr wünschenswert. Wir arbeiten mit einem bewährten Hygienekonzept des DTB und stimmen uns regelmäßig mit der ATP ab.Aktuell liegt der Rhein Kreis Neuss in der Inzidenzstufe 1, die uns einen täglichen Besuch von über 1000 Zuschauern erlauben wird. Der Ticketvorverkauf läuft gut.
R: Du hast mit der Rhein Asset Management einen neuen Namensgeber für ATP Tennis an Rhein & Ruhr überzeugt. Was heißt diese Partnerschaft für die Veranstaltung?
M: In der Tat ist diese neue Partnerschaft ein Aufbruch in die kommenden Jahre ATP Tennis an Rhein & Ruhr. Die Zusammenarbeit läuft bereits seit vielen Wochen hervorragend und wir planen ATP Tennis an Rhein & Ruhr mit den Rhein Asset Open weiter zu entwickeln. Viele Partner, so auch die Stadtwerke Meerbusch, die B & B Hotels, der Rhein Kreis Neuss und die Stadt Meerbusch, der Tennisverband Niederrhein etc. unterstützen uns ebenso mit wertvollen Kräften. Dafür sind wir sehr dankbar.
R: Ihr möchtet das Turnier weiter aufwerten. Was heißt das genau?
M: Auf der Grundlage der diesjährigen Veranstaltung ist eine Vergrößerung und Erweiterung der Rhein Asset Open sehr gut vorstellbar. Die Infrastruktur im TeReMeer (Sport-u. Tennis Resort Meerbusch) eignet sich in Kooperation mit dem unmittelbar anschließenden GWR Büderich e.V.
optimal für ein nachhaltiges, großes Sport-Event. Eine Erhöhung der Turnier-Kategorie bis hin zu einem ATP tour Event ist durchaus realistisch.
R: Die Meldeliste der Teilnehmer liest sich hoch interessant. Bist Du auch dieser Meinung?
M: Sicherlich ist die diesjährige Meldeliste der Tennisprofis, die vielversprechendste, die wir je hatten. Die Champion aus den Jahren 2018 Filip Horansky (SVK) und 2019 Pedro Sousa (POR), sind am Start. Ebenso der Finalist aus 2016 Maximilian Marterer (GER). Dazu kommen die deutschen Newcomer auf der ATP tour Daniel Altmaier und Oscar Otte. Publikumsliebling Dustin Brown wird im Doppel antreten. Schließlich kommen viele Weltklassespieler wie Robin Haase (NED), Ruben Bemelmans (BEL), Damir Dzumuhr (BIH, Ex-ATP Nr. 23), Kamil Majchrzak (POL) u.v.m.. Wir dürfen gespannt sein!

R: Wer ist Dein Favorit?
M: Ganz schwer zu sagen, natürlich freut man sich, wenn ein Landsmann das Rennen macht, aber die Leistungsdichte ist so eng beieinander, da fällt ein sicherer Tipp schwer. Interessant wird es sein zu beobachten, wie sich die Sandplatzspezialisten wie Juan Manuel Cerundolo (ARG) oder
Alejandro Tabilo (CHI) gegen die Hardhitter behaupten können.
R: Neben Weltklassetennis bietet Ihr ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm an. Was hat es damit auf sich?
M: Wir setzen auf ein attraktives Rahmenprogramm damit die Besucher neben Weltklassetennis einen rundum schönen Tag verbringen können. Ab mittags öffnet täglich das gastronomische Angebot vor Ort. Neben Bratwurst, Steaks und Fisch bieten wir vegetarische Kost, Obst und Kuchen. Auch exklusive Drinks sind im Angebot. Am Samstag, den 07.08. steigt mit 80er Jahre Musik unsere offizielle Eröffnungsparty am Abend. Dazu gibt es die Rhein Asset DJ Night, die German Tennis Classics, die Rhein Asset Business Night und die Rhein Asset Hot Music Night.
R: Wo kann man Tickets erwerben?
M: Bevorzugt online auf unserer Homepage www.rhein-asset-open.de. Wir haben dort insgesamt vorerst nur knapp 2500 Tickets hinterlegt, wir werden anschließend aufstocken. Der Vorverkauf läuft gut an. Auch an der Tageskasse vor Ort im TeReMeer bieten wir Tickets an.
